Inspiration: Colour!

Now that it's summer, I've been into so much colour! Colour blocking, having 1 coloured accessory with black or white clothes, brightly coloured tops with jeans, matching clothing and accessories... I love it all! It goes so perfectly with the sunny weather we'll apparently be having in a few days... (feel the sarcasm? It's been raining nonstop for the past 3 weeks. Today, however, was gorgeous, so I'm holding out hope!)

Social Activism in the Fashion World

Remember, how in my Summer Vacation post, I posted a few photos of Christy Turlington, wearing white in a tropical setting (which was Kenya)? Well, one of the pictures I didn't use was a collage of a few shots of Christy and Kenya:

If you can't see what's written on the bottom left corner, here's what it says:
"Kenyan collage, clockwise from top left: native village on Funzi Island. Keeping cool - in an Isaac Mizrahi sundress, about $1195, Barney's New York... Funzi Island's fishing club floating bar. Mangrove reflections, hot - weather whites - Azzedine Alaia's bodysuit (about $615), and pleated skirt (about $545). Sandbar with birds. Primitive dhow under full sail. Chow bell at Funzi Island fishing club. Classic Tropic look: white silk from Collection by Ralph Lauren. Jacket, about $980; pants, about $450. Bergdorf Goodman, stores, details, etc..."

What you should take from that:
the few outfits in that collage come up to approximately $3785.

Love at first sight with an editorial

My reaction when I saw this editorial:

My favourite picture out of the set:

I just...NO. I HAVE NO WORDS. The lighting, the dress, the jewelery, the ocean, the pose, EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PICTURE IS AMAZING AND WONDERFUL.
If editorials continue to be this amazing, I'll be overjoyed!

(The rest of the gorgeous editorial and other opinions are after the jump.)

IT'S SUMMER VACATION!!!

What I'll be doing:

Though, maybe in more than lingerie... ;)

You've got your million dollar contract, and they're all waiting for your hot track!

(Have I ever mentioned how much I love Gwen Stefani/No Doubt, and how friggin excited I am that apparently No Doubt is back in the recording studio?)
Anyways!
Something else I love is illustration. I think, sometimes, fashion illustrations turn out better than the 3d outfits themselves, and it's so interesting to look at how each fashion designer illustrates differently! & to try to unsuccessfully imitate them.
One illustrator I really love is Sarah Gibb. She may not be a fashion designer, but she draws beautiful, and the clothes she draws are always so adorable! Funny enough, I actually discovered her while working at my job at a children's library; she designed the covers of a few books, my favourite being this series about a mermaid, Emily Windsnap, by Liz Kessler:

She also creates beautiful greeting cards, illustrations for magazines and silhouette work:

I love her dress!

Finally: a boater hat!

No matter if you call it a boater hat (me), a Madeline hat (my mom), a Fred Astaire hat (my dad), a silly hat (my little sister), or simply un canotier, in French, you have to admit it's a pretty adorable hat.
Which is why I want to thank Stephanie of  Modern Antoinette for posting pictures of her boater hat, because that's where I discovered they were selling them at Ardene! Which is amazing, because there's one right next to my school, and I've literally been looking for one for years, but they were always too expensive.

Feel free to give me your opinions on how it looks, though, in the end, I probably won't care if you say I look completely ridiculous because I'm just too happy!
(Oh, and sorry for the crappy picture quality, I can't seem to find anyone to come to the park or somewhere pretty to take pictures of me, so I had to make to with stacking the camera on a few books on my desk and putting the timer. Even photoshop couldn't save the lighting...)
